The brand’s f/w24 collection is entitled “Futura”, the feminine Italian word for ‘future’. I chose this title as I explore modern definitions of royalty, status and influence as themes within this collection. 

 The collection enshrines modern female role models as the new kind of royalty within modern democratic Western societies. Each look is inspired by an archetypical modern female ‘royal’-model.

This collection references classic ball gowns within the voluminous petal pieces, rendered both in silk organza and in silk knitted yarns. Classic tailoring techniques are also utilised within the knitted coats, incorporating shoulder padding, geometrical necklines, and bold colors. The knitted coats are inspired by silhouettes of classic fur coats, but modernized through the use of 3D knitting. Necklines and collars are enhanced with volume and shape, adding a hint of regality to the pieces. 

Within the collection, capes are re-proposed as everyday pieces. These are paired with more dynamic silhouettes, such as super-stretch leggings and mini skirts, partly inspired by the on-court looks of Serena Williams, one of the collections models for defining the “modern queen”.
